When I was a kid, Ioved to write. I wrote whimsical stories about flying dogs and enchanted places and cajoled the neighborhood kids to act out plays, often on roller skates.

I struck a less whimsical tone in high school as editor-in-chief of the high school paper, though I am wearing that  hat, which I'd adorned with a "press" sign, not sure what processed me. I attended La Jolla High, one of the many Southern California cities my family hopscotched across, looking for the perfect location. I didn't much like moving around, but I suppose it prepared me to be a documentary journeyer.

College Awards Ceremony

The documentary part of it started during college at the University of Southern California where I studied journalism and made a documentary called GUNSHOT, which won the Television Academy's College Award.

I was hooked.
